Who says you can't teach an abused dog new tricks?

When the Michael Vick story first broke I was livid with not only the guys heartless actions but his absolute stupidity throwing a glamorous career away and think he got off light

Well what a heart warming story that the dogs they recovered,  could be brought back from the brink of destruction.  Most dogs like this or dogs with a "Bad Rap"  get destroyed.  I have such a dog, a 170 lb Rottie that answers to the names"Rocky".  Or various other names too, like, "RockeT"  emphasis on the "T"  and "Puppiter" what ever that is I don't know but it is some of the crazy pet names I have come up with for him over the years.

Rocky is my whole life and yes I spoil the hell out of him.

I love dogs period, all dogs, and they seem to know it for I have never met a dog that didn't like me.  Even so called mean dogs for some reason I have been able to approach them and brought the "puppyness" out of them within seconds of meeting them.

I have always had a dog and  when I heard the details of the abuses that those animals endured,  I was disgusted beyond words. Having been raised with big dogs as a Kid,  my Father was a Cop and  was the first to work with dogs trained to work along side policeman in what is now called the K9 corps,  for the Illinois State Police.

I have always had a great respect for these animals.

When considering the history of Dogs such as that  aired on the PBS televised special "Dogs that changed the world",  how can anyone not see a more respectful place in our society,  than to terrorize these creatures as Vick did,  I will never understand.

Have people like this never experienced a Dogs gently placed chin on the knee of it's master?

Never had a Dog looking longingly and lovingly into the face of their owner with those big brown eyes.   I am thankful for those involved in working with the dogs taken from the "Auschwitz camp for dogs" ala Michael Vick and giving them a second chance to be loved and cared for and proving once again that it isn't the breed of dog but in the majority of cases,  it's the owners,  that give many breeds a bad reputation.   But the Good News is, the amazing turn around these dogs have shown after being in such extremely harsh conditions.  It  is a testament to the virtually undying, eternally forgiving heart and unconditional love, only a dog can teach us, is possible.

A well cared for, well trained Dog will  rescue a COP needing his K9 partners, unwavering loyalty and unshakable courage and out of all  the kinds of pets,  we humans will typically own,

Only a  Dog, will find a loved one who is lost  just by knowing your scent.

A Dog will, Fight for you if you are defenseless.

A Dog will, Comfort you if you are all alone.

A Dog will, Guide you when you are blind.

And a  Dog will love you even if

no body  else,  will.
